Scope and Content:
Item is a photograph of a bronze plaque on Salt Mountain near the site of the picnic ground that opened in 1959. The plaque was dedicated by Isabel Farley and Katharine McLennan, sisters of Hugh McLennan.
Standing in front of the plaque are Frances MacLeod, Isabel Farley, George Keeling, veteran member of the Canadian Legion who unveiled the plaque, and Piper Heather MacKenzie. MacLeod and MacKenzie performed with the Macdonald Hundred Pipe Band, who played a lament during the dedication ceremony.
Isabel Farley donated the Salt Mountain property as an adjunct to the campsite and picnic grounds. During the ceremony, Mrs. Farley spoke of Hugh's career and his great affection for Cape Breton and the Bras d'Or in particular.
