Scope and Content: 
Item is a photograph of the foundations of several buildings at the Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Park, as well as the casements that were a part of the King's Bastion. This is how the site would have appeared to J.S. and Katharine McLennan as they first arrived in Louisbourg. In the early years, people were free to take away any artifacts they found at the site. Katharine and her father spent much of their time tracking down lost artifacts. After the site received National Historical Site recognition, people were no longer allowed to take "souvenirs" from the site.

Notes: Item was included in a scrapbook that was compiled by Katharine McLennan, who donated the scrapbook to the Cape Breton Regional Library.
