Item is a transcription of a letter from James Cunningham (who served under General Abercromby) to Lord Sackville, dated May 30, 1758. In the letter, Cunningham describes that fleet as it traveled to Halifax for the Second Siege, naming involved ships and regiments.
J.S., Louise, and Katharine McLennan spent years gathering the information required to write Louisbourg: From its Foundations to its Fall. They meticulously copied by hand any archival documents of relevance to the history of Louisbourg. Katharine transcribed this particular letter during a research trip to France. There are hundreds of transcriptions of this kind held in the McLennan Collection at the Cape Breton Regional Library.
